Any guests who require an elevator to get to the Shaw Auditorium will need to use an alternate entrance for the remainder of our 2026 Winter/spring season. The elevator at 80 Commercial Street will be out of operation until May, 2026.
Our designated entrance at 80 Commercial Street will remain open to all who do not require elevator service.
Elevator access will now be available at the 101 Gordon Street Entrance (with access to the Shaw Auditorium via theoverhead glass walkway) and at each level of the VICC parkade.
The parkade elevator marked with the "blue" circle is no longer operational. Instead please take the parkade elevator marked with the "red" circle.
VICC has promised new signage to guide you at the 101 Gordon Street Entrance. The photos below may also be of some help.
We sincerely regret the inconvenience this will create for our patrons, particularly those with accessibility needs!
Entering the Shaw Auditorium
You may enter the Shaw Auditorium two ways:
Entrance at 80 Commercial Street - this is our designated entrance for NIFSS attendees**. Take the stairs (or elevator) one floor up to the lobby of the Shaw Auditorium.
Entrance from Vancouver Island Conference Centre (VICC) Parkade. Please see below for specific instructions.
**For security reasons, this entrance will be locked15 minutes after the scheduled start time for the film. There will be no admission to the films after this time.
VICC Parking
Enter the parkade at 101 Gordon Street and proceed to the far back corner of the parkade. You can park on either level P1 or P2.
Use the elevator entrance with P1 or P2 circled in BLUE (NOT the one circled in RED) as illustrated in the photo below. Only the elevator marked with the "blue" circle is designated for NIFSS attendees.
